Resources for Distance Learning/COVID-19
Click here to view SHSD Resources for Distance Learning/COVID-19.  Click here for the Bernards High School Remote Learning Guidelines, which were revised last Friday (March 20).  Students are expected to access their teachers' Google Classrooms and are expected to work on assignments and/or participate in lessons during their scheduled class periods.

Statewide School Closure Extended by Governor
Gov. Phil Murphy announced yesterday that New Jersey's schools will remain closed through at least April 17 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The governor also stated that, "The decision to reopen will be based on careful discussion with our public health and safety experts and with our educators in districts and will be guided by the facts on the ground."  Click here for Governor Murphy's Covid-19 Task Force daily briefings.

New Jersey Cancels Statewide Student Assessments
On March 24th, Governor Phil Murphy announced that the State of New Jersey is cancelling all statewide student assessments for the spring 2020 testing window. This includes the springtime administration of the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA), ACCESS for ELLs, and the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) assessment. We understand that there will be many questions surrounding this decision, such as teacher evaluation and graduation requirements.

Please click here to see the complete message from Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D., Commissioner of Education for current information on high school graduation requirements such as: portfolio assessments, summer and fall block testing availability (current 9th,10th,11th grade students and middle school students taking Algebra or Geometry), and the menu of alternative assessments. Additional information will be posted on the NJDOE website and shared through the Friday Folder as it becomes available.

College Board AP Testing Information
Click here for College Board guidance regarding 2019-2020 AP testing.  The College Board indicated the following:

1. All AP exams will be 45 minute tests that students can take at home. These can be taken on any device including phones. This also includes taking a photo of written work as an option.
2. AP exams will test on content covered by mid-March. There is a chart on the website breaking down expected units for all courses.
3. There will be two testing dates for every exam, though these dates have not been released yet.
4. Starting on March 25 free online reviews will be available for all courses.
5. All portfolio submissions (for courses such as AP Studio Art, Computer Science Principles, etc.) have been pushed back until the end of May.

At this time we have not received directions on how all of these changes will be implemented, but we wanted to make sure you were aware of the College Board announcement. As we receive more information, we will share with families, students, and staff.
